Raise of Ink
This film is one of my major project in USYD. It's my individual work with my mates' favours. However it's great opportunity that I have played roles from director, cinematographer, producer to video editor.
Raise of Ink is a feature-length independent film about calligraphic, visual communication industry and Chinese traditional visual culture. Chinese calligraphic is getting popular around the earth recently moreover base on history, only few type of typographic like Chinese calligraphic, its aesthetic has been never disappeared from history and with the globalisation it is growing as well as effecting increased number of aspects of visual culture. Chinese calligraphy is becoming an important art, which shows Chinese visual aesthetic ideal gem and affects our lives. The film is an exploration of calligraphic as design elements in urban spaces and the visual language that inhabits them, and fluid discussion with renowned Chinese calligrapher, artist and designer in Sydney about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their creative ideas. Raise of Ink encompasses the fashion on street, shop decoration, tattoo art, advertising and visual communication, as well as invites us to take a second view at the calligraphic in our daily life. Interviewees in Raise of Ink include famous Chinese calligrapher who live and spread the art in Sydney, tattoo artist and genius graphic designer who designed signs and graphic ads for Market City.
